Under the enigmatic username “user18081971,” believed to be linked to Aphex Twin, two never-before-heard tracks have surfaced on SoundCloud. Titled ‘Short Forgotten Produk Trk Omc’ and ‘2nd Neotek Test Trac Omc,’ these archival pieces were reportedly produced between 2006 and 2007, and were released consecutively on July 27.
Both tracks carry a description that reads, “as promised to people that pm’d me. made approx 2006-07,” along with the signature hashtag “afx.”
The second track, ‘2nd Neotek Test Trac Omc,’ was crafted using a Kawai K5m, an additive synthesizer from 1987.
Since its creation in 2015, the user18081971 account has been widely associated with Aphex Twin, consistently delivering unheard tracks over the years. In 2020, a string of new releases emerged on the account under the pseudonym AFX.
Adding to the excitement, Aphex Twin recently announced that he would be releasing his first new music in five years via Warp in July. His latest four-track EP titled ‘Blackbox Life Recorder 21f’ was released on July 28, following the initial release of the title track.
The EP marks his first full release since the ‘Collapse’ EP in 2018, and has been highly anticipated by fans, who had speculated its arrival on Reddit.
Furthermore, Aphex Twin is set to headline Field Day, his first London show in four years, scheduled for August 19, promising an exceptional summer performance for his devoted audience.
