Greek electronic music producer Argy was forced to cancel his headlining performance in Budapest due to a potential bomb threat at the venue.
The incident occurred at the Hungarian Railway Museum, where Argy was scheduled to perform as part of his “New World” tour.
Approximately 30 minutes before his set, security personnel escorted Argy and fellow artist OMIKI from the backstage area to a waiting car, which transported them to their hotel for safety reasons.
In a statement shared on his Instagram stories, Argy explained: “As we were leaving the backstage area with OMIKI to head to the stage, security abruptly escorted us to a car, which then drove us to our hotel because of security concerns regarding a potential bomb threat at the venue.”
After parts of the venue were cleared and searched, authorities deemed it safe for the event to continue. However, Argy and his team decided against returning to the venue. He expressed his concerns, stating: “If it were up to me, I would not have wanted the show to proceed at all after the police evacuated so many people and conducted bomb searches. However, the show, which was my own headline event, continued without my consent.”
Fortunately, the threat was determined to be unfounded, and no injuries were reported. Argy has assured fans that he plans to return to the region to make up for the canceled performance.
This incident highlights the increasing security challenges faced by live music events worldwide, emphasizing the need for vigilance to ensure the safety of artists and attendees alike.
