Defected Records, a prominent music label, has revealed an exciting new fundraising collaboration with the UK housing and homelessness charity, Shelter.
The year-long campaign, commencing in July 2023, aims to bring together the dance music community to support Shelter’s vital work in addressing housing and homelessness challenges.
The partnership will encompass a diverse range of fundraising activities. Notable features include a special line of collaborative merchandise, with all proceeds directly benefiting Shelter’s initiatives. Defected Radio will host takeovers to discuss and shed light on the housing crisis, while live events will showcase talented female and LGBTQ+ artists from Defected, recognizing the disproportionate impact of homelessness on these communities. The Defected team will actively participate in volunteering and fundraising efforts, further demonstrating their commitment to the cause.
CEO of Defected Records, Wez Saunders, expressed his personal motivation for the partnership, stating that the alarming statistics on homelessness, particularly affecting specific groups, prompted the label to unite with Shelter. Leveraging Defected’s extensive and engaged community, the collaboration aims to raise awareness and contribute to alleviating the hardships faced by those affected by homelessness. With the unifying power of dance music, they hope to make a significant difference in Shelter’s mission.
Polly Neate, Chief Executive of Shelter, expressed delight in having Defected’s support in their fight for secure homes. She emphasized the importance of raising vital funds and generating awareness to assist anyone facing housing challenges and homelessness. The collaboration aims to amplify Shelter’s advocacy for real change in the housing sector.
In November 2023, Wez Saunders will host an exclusive auction night and gala at BAFTA in London’s prestigious West End. Further excitement awaits as special guest performances will be announced soon.
Through this powerful alliance, “From House To Home,” Defected Records and Shelter are determined to make a lasting impact on the lives of those in need and advocate for a world where everyone has a safe place to call home.
