The DJ and Producer Association of Ibiza and Formentera (DIPEF) has revealed its plan and started the membership enrollment period.
Established in 2020 amid a cultural crisis caused by the pandemic, DIPEF is now holding its first membership drive and has planned a series of informative talks and workshops for its members.
DIPEF has established a board of directors and, guided by its roadmap, aims to secure the rights and responsibilities of its members and to serve the local community through its music-focused vision. The association was created to form a legal entity for the local community of DJs and music producers and to promote their industry and cultural impact.
Over the past two years, DIPEF has been working on its objectives, which were complicated by the instability of the sector during the pandemic. However, with the return to normalcy, the association has set clear goals, as presented in a press conference with the second deputy mayor and councilor for Mobility, Housing, and Economic Promotion, Aitor Morrás.
According to Christian Len, the new president of DIPEF, the association aims to not only be a platform for the rights and interests of DJs and music producers but also to contribute to the cultural and economic development of the island through music as a creative industry. The main objectives of DIPEF include the regularization of the sector, improving professional conditions for DJs and music producers, and promoting the group as a positive force in the musical and cultural scene of the islands.
To join DIPEF, individuals must demonstrate their connection to Ibiza and Formentera and pay an annual fee of €50. Members will receive a Resident DJ accreditation card, as well as discounts on legal and administrative services, professional advice, technology products, and special activities, among other benefits. DIPEF is not a booking agency or job bank.
DIPEF will host informational sessions and workshops on various topics, such as marketing, legal advice, and musical production, to professionalize the sector. The calendar of these workshops will be announced soon. The association will also participate in initiatives promoting recreation and economic and social revitalization, including the opening of ‘Menja’t el mercat,’ where DIPEF will provide the soundtrack.
DIPEF wants to collaborate with public administration, business, and private sectors to give music with the Ibiza label the recognition it deserves. The association aims to become the voice of a historic Ibiza collective and play a leading role in the island’s music scene. According to Christian Len, with everyone’s collaboration, music will continue to make Ibiza one of the world’s special places.
