Decades have passed since Apple revolutionized the music industry with the introduction of iTunes, a digital music marketplace that filled the void left by declining CD sales and the rise of file-sharing networks. While iTunes has since evolved into Apple Music, the latest iteration of this groundbreaking concept will receive an array of new features later this year.
During the recent Apple Keynote address, the renowned consumer tech brand unveiled several upcoming offerings, including redesigned AirPods and their inaugural virtual reality device, Apple Vision. Although the spotlight shone brightly on the new headset, it was revealed that iPhone users can look forward to iOS 17, an update packed with enhancements and fresh features for their smartphones. Among the applications receiving updates, the Apple Music app will introduce new functionalities to keep pace with competitors like Spotify and Tidal in the streaming music market.
While an official release date for the upgrade has not been announced, users can anticipate accessing the new features this autumn, enhancing their overall music experience. Collaborative playlists will enable family and friends to curate music collections together, even allowing the addition of emoji reactions to song choices. The updated Music app will also introduce a video segment with a sing feature, incorporating entertaining filters for users to film their own performances. For the ardent music enthusiast seeking comprehensive track information, the song details will be expanded to provide in-depth insights into the roles and instruments employed. SharePlay will foster collaboration during car rides by allowing other passengers to connect and control the music from their own devices. Lastly, Apple aims to enhance the radio show experience by offering commercial-free shows in the Podcast section.
Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Services, stated, “Apple’s services enhance the lives of millions of users every day, and we continuously strive to deliver the best possible experience. Our goal is not only to make services more powerful but also more enjoyable. I believe our teams have done an incredible job with the lineup of new features we’ll be delivering this fall, ranging from Collaborative Playlists in Apple Music to offline maps in Apple Maps, and exciting experiences in Apple Podcasts.”
Stay tuned to Apple for further updates on the release of these thrilling new features that lie ahead.
