The Mayan Warrior showcase at the Brooklyn Mirage bid a bittersweet but heartfelt farewell this past weekend. The event served as a special Burning Man Farewell Fundraiser following the tragic burning of the Mayan Warrior art car a few months ago. This iconic art car has traveled the world since 2011, creating countless unforgettable moments of joy, wonder, and connection for ravers.
For years, the Mayan Warrior has graced events in New York City, bringing its vibrant energy and history. Although attendees couldn’t witness the art car’s presence, thousands gathered to celebrate the night. The lineup featured a mix of Mexican and global talent in the house/techno scene, with performances starting at 8 pm and continuing until sunrise. The Brooklyn Mirage and Kings Hall provided dance spaces for ravers, with artists like Illich Mujica, Omri Samadar, Echonomost, Mano Le Tough, Kaz James, Holder, John Noseda, Serge Devant, and Madmotormiquel setting the stage on fire.
The Brooklyn Mirage, enhanced with an ultra-wide LED screen and advanced pyrotechnics, created a magical atmosphere throughout the night. Projections of scenes from the Playa immersed attendees in the rich Mayan Warrior culture. The brand’s signature triangle piece, a beloved symbol among past attendees and newcomers alike, took center stage. Merchandise vendors added to the Burning Man vibe, allowing ravers to join in and don their own Mayan Warrior attire. With top-notch laser displays and visuals, the night was not only visually stunning but also filled with incredible vibes as everyone gathered to witness one of the last Mayan Warrior showcases on the East Coast.
On Instagram, Mayan Warrior expressed their gratitude to their followers, reflecting on the emotional and nostalgic journey of the past weekend. They recognized the immense love and joy from the crowd, taking them back to their roots on the playa. From a simple idea in the shifting desert plains, Mayan Warrior has grown into a global community, uniting doers and dreamers. They expressed eternal gratitude for the love and support received and hinted at new beginnings after their final farewell fundraiser in Los Angeles.
