Former Assistant Makes Disturbing Accusations: DJ Paul Oakenfold Faces Sexual Harassment Claims

According to a report from Deadline, DJ Paul Oakenfold, who has been nominated for a Grammy, has been accused of sexual harassment by a former assistant. The allegations surfaced when a former employee of New Frequency Management, the company that manages the renowned UK DJ, filed a case against Oakenfold, New Frequency Management, Paul Stepanek Management, and several unnamed defendants. The lawsuit seeks damages for alleged sexual harassment and workplace violations.

The court filing states that the misconduct began in October of last year, on the first day of the woman’s employment. It claims that Oakenfold engaged in repeated acts of masturbation in front of the woman, including four times in a single day.

The plaintiff reported the alleged harassment to New Frequency Management CEO Stepanek, but was asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) two days later. The plaintiff asserts that she felt coerced into signing the NDA in order to maintain her employment. Subsequently, she was reassigned to other clients and had her working hours significantly reduced.

On March 13th, 2023, the plaintiff was terminated from her position. In the court filing, she alleges that her dismissal was a result of reporting the sexual abuse. She is suing for wrongful termination, retaliation, harassment, and failure to prevent harassment.

Paul Oakenfold, known as one of the most successful UK DJs in history, has collaborated with notable artists such as Madonna, Britney Spears, Massive Attack, and The Cure. He also provided the soundtrack for the 2001 film Swordfish, starring John Travolta and Halle Berry.

Resident Advisor has sought comments from Oakenfold, New Frequency Management, and Paul Stepanek Management. On June 5th, Oakenfold released a statement on Instagram vehemently denying all allegations of improper conduct. Notably, his name has been removed from the list of artists on New Frequency Management’s website.

Oakenfold’s full statement reads as follows: “I want to address recent allegations of sexual harassment made against me. Let me be absolutely clear: I categorically deny any and all claims of improper conduct. Respect, integrity, and consent are values I hold dear, and I have always treated everyone with utmost professionalism. It is disheartening to see these baseless accusations, which appear to be nothing more than a calculated attempt to tarnish my reputation and extort money. I am committed to fully cooperating with any investigations to clear my name and will exhaust all legal remedies available, including the option to countersue, to protect my reputation and seek justice. Thank you for your unwavering support and understanding during this challenging time.”
