The excitement of hearing unreleased tracks at live shows is a thrill for both artists and fans alike. However, Martin Garrix recently took to social media to express his frustration over producers stealing his music from his sets.
In an Instagram story, Garrix revealed that an upcoming single with Third Party was ripped from one of his recent performances and uploaded to various streaming platforms without his consent. He shared a message he sent to the producer, expressing his disappointment and how incidents like these discourage him from playing unreleased music in his sets. Garrix emphasized that such actions not only affect the original producers but also disrupt release schedules, labels, and other plans associated with the track.
Garrix further highlighted another instance of musical theft, where an unreleased ID was quickly claimed by other producers for their own work. Faced with this recurring issue, the Dutch DJ decided to abandon the track entirely.
The consequences of such theft are detrimental to artists who pour their effort, energy, and passion into their music. It undermines the creative process and disrespects the dedication involved in sharing a track with a live audience at major festivals for testing and feedback. Garrix’s disclosure aims to raise awareness about this problem and prompt the industry to find effective measures to combat piracy.
As of now, Garrix has not disclosed the fate of the Third Party collaboration after this unfortunate setback. It is crucial for the music community to recognize and appreciate the value of every track and respect the artists’ creative journey.
