Tiesto – Biography

In the earlier years of his career, Tiësto established himself as a pioneering force in electronic dance music. Born Tijs Verwest on January 17, 1969, in Breda, the Netherlands, he began DJing at a local club called the Sprock. His talent and passion for music caught the attention of the Rotterdam-based independent label Basic Beat Recordings, which led to the release of his first mix CDs as part of the Forbidden Paradise series. These mixes showcased Tiësto’s exceptional skills and set the stage for his future success.

In 1997, Tiësto co-founded Black Hole Recordings with Arny Bink, creating a private label that would become instrumental in his career. Tiësto has accumulated numerous accolades, including a Grammy win in 2015 for his remix of John Legend’s “All of Me” and an appointment as Officer of the Order of Orange-Nassau, a prestigious honor in the Netherlands.

Tiësto’s musical journey continued with the release of The London Sessions in 2020, an album inspired by the vibrant music scene of the city. The album featured hit singles like “Jackie Chan,” “God Is a Dancer” with Mabel, and “Ritual” with Jonas Blue and Rita Ora. These tracks solidified Tiësto’s position as a hitmaker and further expanded his global fanbase.

In the years that followed, Tiësto continued to release chart-topping collaborations with artists such as Karol G, Ava Max, and Charli XCX.
