Downtown Monterey is about to welcome a new micro-club called Compact Disco.
Scheduled to open its doors on Friday, July 21st, in the vibrant Californian city, Compact Disco aims to provide a unique experience for music enthusiasts. The club will feature daytime listening sessions on its custom, in-ceiling sound system, along with energetic club nights driven by a dance floor-focused setup. A strict policy prohibiting song requests and phone usage will be enforced.
Kenny Summit, the founder of Compact Disco, has an impressive musical background, having been mentored by the legendary Frankie Knuckles and collaborated with icons like Giorgio Moroder and DJ Kool Herc. Summit plans to curate a diverse lineup of both local and international DJs who specialize in genres such as Chicago house, Detroit techno, Philly soul, Italo disco, bossa nova, and more.
Summit expressed his excitement about creating a dedicated venue for house music, stating, “I’ve never been to a venue solely dedicated to house music—a place where every time the doors open, you’re guaranteed to hear quality house.” He meticulously designed the club around a custom sound system, carefully selecting components from various manufacturers to create the ideal audio experience. The venue’s interior incorporates cubbies and bass traps within the walls, while the decor complements the sound, allowing patrons to enjoy conversations at the bar while the intimate dance floor immerses them in the full impact of the music.
Additionally, Compact Disco has plans to introduce a membership program that offers exclusive events, an expanded food menu, exciting road trips, and partnerships with other local businesses, fostering a vibrant community within the club.
The arrival of Compact Disco brings a fresh and dynamic addition to Monterey’s nightlife scene, promising unforgettable experiences for house music enthusiasts and creating a hub for electronic music culture in the city.
