Steve Aoki Announces Upcoming Album ‘Hiroquest: Double Helix’

Fans of Steve Aoki who closely follow his musical releases have likely noticed his penchant for themes and ongoing concepts in his catalog. Building on the foundation of his four-part Neon Future series, Aoki is now delving even deeper into his current creation, Hiroquest.

In the summer of 2022, Steve Aoki introduced the world to his fictional universe of Hiroquest, embarking on a year-long tour and releasing the album Hiroquest: Genesis, accompanied by a card trading game and a digital platform to expand upon this new world. Less than a year and a half later, the American producer is set to release the second chapter in the saga, Hiroquest: Double Helix, featuring collaborations with A-list artists. Scheduled for release on November 17th, it seems that the previously dropped single, “Locked Up,” featuring Trinix and Akon, will be part of the new collection, alongside tracks with Paris Hilton and Galantis.

Discussing the concept and evolution of the music and storyline within Hiroquest, Aoki commented:

“Hiroquest is an entire world I crafted around an enigmatic character named Hiro. Part I was largely driven by my alt-music roots in hardcore punk bands. Now, the story continues on Double Helix, which embraces dance culture while intertwining the pulse of contemporary Latin music,” Aoki said. “Working with Akon to reimagine his 2003 hit ‘Locked Up’ was a dream come true — a fusion of styles I adore. This album harmonizes nostalgia and contemporary sounds, placing collaboration at its core.”

Alongside “Locked Up,” the album’s tracklisting includes previously released singles such as “Hungry Heart,” “The Show,” “Invítame a un Café,” “Diferente” with CNCO, “Muñecas,” “New York,” and “Won’t Forget This Time.” As Steve Aoki continues to grace stages and festivals around the world, fans will undoubtedly be eagerly anticipating November and the release of Hiroquest: Double Helix to further explore the depths of the producer’s creative mind.
