The Local Police of Sant Josep has carried out 22 temporary seals of music equipment , reviewing 42 premises in the municipality so far.
In relation to the seals, all the deficiencies have already been corrected except for three cases in which work is still being done to correct the errors.
According to Periódico de Ibiza y Formentera , among the premises where the team would have been sealed is the well-known DC-10.
The deputy mayor for Economic Action, Government and Civil Protection, Pilar Ribas, explained yesterday that, throughout the tourist season, among the most frequent problems in the municipality are those related to excessive noise. For this reason, the Sant Josep Local Police carries out inspections in premises that are the subject of neighborhood complaints. “Among the reviews, 20 installations were correct. I would also like to emphasize it because the Administration is grateful for the willingness of many businessmen who act well and do things correctly, “said the mayor.
In relation to the temporary seals, Ribas considered that “it means that in the end it is one more control measure.” In fact, this measure is maintained while the premises do not take the necessary steps to guarantee respect for the restrictions and noise pollution . From the City Council they are carrying out the sonometric controls and, if the restoration of legality is confirmed, the venue is allowed to resume musical activity, regardless of the sanctioning procedure.
Throughout the year, the Josepí has collected 143 notices and complaints due to excessive noise linked to establishments in the municipality. There have also been 323 calls for noise in homes, contemplating among these complaints from dogs that bark to uncontrolled alarms. A total of 43 buildings in Sant Josep have been sanctioned for these acoustic breaches.
“Facing the summer, what we do is try to control, as far as possible, the coexistence between neighbors, tourism and the different activities,” Ribas recalled.
He also highlighted the will of the Local Police to guarantee the tranquility of the residents, “with all the time that implies since the complaints arrive from the areas of dispersed population, and sometimes with little data, which makes it difficult to find the origin of the inconvenience. Despite this, few notices remain unattended, especially in urban areas.
In relation to the activities, from Sant Josep they detailed that the time slot in which more noise complaints are registered is between 10:00 p.m. and 01:00 a.m., mainly on weekends. Platja d’en Bossa, Cala de Bou and other well-known beaches in the municipality are the ones that also accumulate the most problems of this type.
The mayor highlighted the “good predisposition” of the businessmen whose equipment has been temporarily sealed. «They are usually quite quick to solve the deficiencies and I imagine that also because it suits them. We haven’t had anyone with a temporary seal for too long,” Ribas said.
Sant Josep recalled that the most common infractions are usually manipulations of the acoustic limiters, the implantation of double installations to avoid limiting devices or the placement of devices other than those authorized in the sonometric studies of the installations.
From the City Council they highlighted that breaches can be sanctioned with fines of between 600 euros, for the most minor offenses, to 300,000 euros, in the most serious cases.
The Local Police have carried out actions throughout the municipality, both in leisure areas with a higher concentration of music venues and in places such as the Ses Salines Natural Park, where breaches detected in establishments on Migjorn beach or Cala Jondal have been corrected.
In fact, the City Council reported this Tuesday that this past weekend the outdoor equipment of a place near Sant Josep and all the musical equipment of three spaces that another well-known establishment near the center of Sant Jordi has been sealed.
In the inspection of the first premises, acoustic limiters other than those specified in the sonometric study of the premises were found, in addition to other deficiencies. In the other case, unsealed governors were detected, as well as wiring placed outside the governor.
After verifying that the irregularities had not been resolved, the equipment was sealed as a precaution.
The Police has also carried out three sound tests by having two accredited agents to carry out these measurements.
