Avon and Somerset Police have confirmed the heartbreaking news of the deaths of two men in their 40s at Glastonbury Festival this weekend.
One of the individuals who sadly passed away is Jason Winder, a 48-year-old DJ and radio host. According to Avon & Somerset Police, Winder experienced a “medical incident” in his tent at 4:00 AM. Despite the immediate response of emergency services, paramedics were unable to revive him.
Winder, also known by his stage name Jason Wilder, had previously worked as an expat in Phuket, Thailand, where he garnered recognition for his DJ sets and radio shows. His afternoon shows on Phuket Live 89.5FM, where he would captivate listeners for three uninterrupted hours, showcased his immense talent.
A close friend and fellow DJ, Tim Newton, expressed his heartfelt tribute to the “ultra talented DJ” in a poignant message shared with The Evening Standard. Newton highlighted Winder’s natural ability to engage and entertain, whether he was behind the microphone, among loved ones, or performing in front of a large crowd.
Newton reminisced about their recent conversation, focused on Winder’s anticipation for Glastonbury. He stated, “And he died there doing what he loved – surrounded by music, friends, and you can be sure, a lot of love and laughter. Jason lived large and packed a lot of life into his 48 short years. RIP dear friend.”
