Cardi B’s Thrown Microphone Sells for Nearly $100,000 at eBay Auction

A microphone flung into the crowd by Cardi B last month has been sold for nearly $100,000 in a recent eBay auction. Scott Fisher, the owner of an audio equipment rental company, listed the infamous item for auction, pledging that all proceeds from the sale would be donated to charity.

“The profit from this microphone’s sale will be equally distributed between two charitable organizations. The first is a local Las Vegas charity known as Friendship Circle Las Vegas, which aids children, teenagers, and young adults with special needs through teen and young adult volunteers,” the auction description detailed.

“The second charity is the Wounded Warrior Project, an initiative that helps severely wounded veterans regain their independence. Although I didn’t serve, my father was a USAF veteran and my son-in-law served in the USMC.”

Originally priced at $1,000, the microphone commenced with a starting bid of $500. Ultimately, it was purchased for an astounding $99,900 a week later. Along with the microphone, the winning bidder will receive a letter of authenticity and a customized case designed specifically for displaying the artifact.

Validating the microphone’s authenticity, Fisher shared with CBS News, “Standard protocol involves marking all microphones and in-ear systems to identify their designated recipients before soundcheck. This ensures that the correct individuals receive the proper equipment during the performance.”

Furthermore, “The Cardi B microphone could be identified by the white tape visible in all the videos, which was used to distinguish it.”

This auction’s culmination follows a recent incident in which the rapper garnered attention for hurling the microphone at a fan who had splashed a drink at her during a live performance.
