Mac DeMarco has commended Spotify for its user-friendliness but called for the platform to expedite the addition of high-definition (hi-def) streaming.
Spotify introduced its Hi-Fi “supremium” plan in 2021 but has yet to implement it.
In an interview with NME, DeMarco revealed that he recently started using Spotify, having previously used YouTube. He explained that he opted for Spotify to utilize Siri in his new truck.
While acknowledging that many artists criticize Spotify for its payment structure, DeMarco praised its ease of use and suggested that it could be an all-encompassing platform.
DeMarco also urged Spotify to incorporate a hi-def streaming option, emphasizing that most other platforms offer this feature, and Spotify should follow suit.
Speculation in June suggested that Spotify’s Supremium might launch within the next few months, offering CD-quality audio and greater audiobook access for a higher subscription fee.
In related news, Spotify has expanded its DJ beta to 50 global markets.
