Primavera Sound Expands to Peru with New Festival

Primavera Sound festival is expanding its global footprint by venturing to the South American Pacific coast with a new edition of its festival in Lima, Peru. The festival, which already has a presence in cities like Barcelona, Buenos Aires, São Paulo, and Bogotá, will kick off on November 2nd and continue on December 2nd, 7th, and 8th.

The opening date will be headlined by The Cure, followed by Bad Gyal on the 2nd, Pet Shop Boys on the 7th, and Bad Religion on the 8th.

In an Instagram post announcing the headline acts, the festival expressed excitement about bringing Primavera Sound to Peru and invited fans to enjoy a series of unforgettable concerts on the “Road to Spring.” More ticket sale information will be coming soon.

This year marked the first time the festival was held as a dual-site event, taking place not only in its usual Barcelona location but also in Spain’s capital city, Madrid, at the ‘City of Rock’ in Arganda del Rey and other locations across the city. Headliners for this year’s edition included Kendrick Lamar, Depeche Mode, Calvin Harris, and Rosalía, among others.

However, the inaugural Madrid edition faced several setbacks, including the cancellation of its first day, where Blur and Halsey were set to headline, due to persistent severe weather in the preceding weeks that impacted the festival’s pre-production. As a result, organizers announced that Primavera’s 2024 edition will not be returning to Madrid, citing difficulties with the pre-production process and acknowledging the inconveniences faced during this year’s edition.

The festival’s official site notes that the first Primavera Sound experience in Peru will not be a traditional festival but a series of concerts in Lima. These concerts will set the stage for the second editions in Buenos Aires (November 25th and 26th) and São Paulo (December 2nd and 3rd), the Primavera Day in Asunción (December 7th), and the debut in Bogotá (December 9th and 10th).

Primavera Sound continues to expand its international presence, bringing its unique musical experiences to new audiences around the world.

The road to Primavera Sound also passes through Peru: The Cure, Pet Shop Boys, Bad Gyal and Bad Religion will play in Lima
