Primavera Sound Madrid Confirms No Return for 2024, Focuses on Other Cities

Primavera Sound, the renowned music festival, has confirmed that it will not return to Madrid next year. Despite successfully holding consecutive events in Barcelona and Madrid this year, the Madrid edition faced significant challenges. Weather conditions led to the unfortunate cancellation of the festival’s first day in Madrid.

In a statement from the festival organizers, they expressed that the Madrid event presented one of the most complex situations that Primavera Sound has ever encountered. External difficulties arose just weeks before the event, making it particularly demanding to manage.

Furthermore, the organizers explained that finding a suitable venue in Madrid for the festival next year proved to be an insurmountable challenge. They needed a location that could accommodate the high demand from the festival’s audience, meet the production requirements, and showcase a diverse range of musical performances.

Unprecedented: Primavera Sound Madrid closes its first edition collecting exciting musical moments after overcoming initial setbacks

Almudena Heredero, the director of Primavera Sound Madrid, conveyed her disappointment, stating that although the musical aspect of the festival received praise, the logistical difficulties compromised the overall experience for the festival-goers. This realization led them to understand that the conditions are not currently conducive for hosting a Primavera Sound event in Madrid that lives up to its reputation and standards in 2024.

Alfonso Lanza, the director of Primavera Sound, expressed that despite the setback, they remain open to the possibility of bringing the festival back to Madrid in the future. They are actively engaging in continuous and constructive dialogues with the city’s institutions to explore the feasibility of hosting a future edition.

For the time being, Primavera Sound will continue its long-standing tradition in Barcelona and Porto next year. Additionally, it is expanding its horizons by organizing events in Buenos Aires, São Paulo, Bogotá, and Asunción. The festival will also debut the Primavera Weekender in Benidorm in November, promising an exciting and diverse array of musical experiences for its loyal and ever-growing audience.
