YouTube Survey Reveals 82% of 18 to 44 Year-Olds Share Videos Online

In a surprising YouTube survey, it has been found that 82% of individuals between the ages of 18 and 44 have posted videos online. The recently published YouTube Culture and Trends Report (2023 edition) provides valuable insights, highlighting this remarkable statistic. Over the past year, a majority of respondents, whether on TikTok, YouTube, or Instagram, have uploaded at least one video to a social media platform.

This extensive survey, conducted by YouTube in partnership with Ipsos, a global market research specialist, involved 25,892 participants aged 18 to 44 across 14 countries including the US, UK, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea. The results revealed that 82% of those surveyed have shared videos on various platforms, with 40% even identifying themselves as content creators.

During VidCon 2023 in Anaheim, Calif, held on June 21st, YouTube presented these findings, demonstrating the significant impact of video-sharing among younger demographics. Moreover, the survey showed that 68% of participants watch videos related to their specific interests in various formats, such as short-form, long-form, podcasts, and live streams.

The report emphasizes the increasing demand for personalized viewing experiences and the consumption of diverse content across mobile and connected TV screens. To illustrate this trend, YouTube mentioned the case of Brazil’s CazĂ©TV, which attracted a record-breaking viewership of 6 million during the FIFA World Cup.

These polling statistics offer valuable insights into the evolving landscape of the music industry and entertainment sectors. Traditional assumptions about talent and attention monopolies are being challenged, as direct-to-fan business models gain prominence. YouTube Premium subscribers, for example, were granted exclusive backstage access to this year’s Coachella music festival, highlighting the unique opportunities offered by video platforms.

Notably, Tencent revealed its successful utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) to generate over 1,000 songs, with one composition amassing an impressive 100 million streams. Additionally, renowned artist Armin van Buuren recently collaborated with AI for a music video, exemplifying the evolving intersection of technology and creativity.

In conclusion, the survey findings demonstrate the evolving usage patterns of video platforms. While many users still primarily utilize them for entertainment purposes, the number of individuals engaging as content creators has significantly increased among the 18 to 44 age group, as highlighted by Ipsos’ poll results.
